Our Commitment to Sustainability

global ecology

At Institutional Connect, we are dedicated to creating meaningful experiences while minimizing our environmental impact.

Sustainability is an ongoing journey and we are committed to evolving our practices to leave a positive impact on our industry, our communities and our planet. As part of our sustainability efforts, we continuously explore ways to reduce waste, promote responsible practices and partner with organizations that align with our values.

Some of the steps we take to embed sustainability into our events include:

Reducing Single-Use Materials:

We actively limit the use of single-use signage by implementing reusable branding solutions and relying on digital alternatives whenever possible.

Digital-First Communications:

Our event app serves as a real-time hub for schedules, updates, and networking, significantly reducing the need for printed materials.

Eco-Friendly Name Badges:

All attendee badges are made from recyclable materials, making it easier for guests to responsibly dispose of them after the event.

Venues with Sustainability Programs:

We prioritize working with venues that are Green Key certified or have sustainability programs. Green Key is a leading eco-label awarded to hotels and conference centers that meet rigorous standards in sustainability. Certified venues demonstrate excellence in areas such as energy and water conservation, waste reduction, environmentally friendly cleaning practices and support for local communities. Choosing venues that are Green Key certified or have other sustainability programs ensures our events are held in spaces that actively work to reduce their ecological impact.

Food Donation Initiatives:

To prevent food waste, we work closely with our venue partners to donate surplus meals to local charities, helping to support those in need in the communities we serve.

Criteria

Green Key certified establishments meet a set of high standard environmental requirements. The Green Key criteria and their explanatory notes are available to all interested parties and can be downloaded below. We have developed criteria and explanatory notes for six Green Key categories (hotels and hostels, campsites and holiday parks, small accommodations, conference centres, restaurants, and attractions) covering the same 13 criteria areas.
