Jennifer Hughey, client relationship manager focuses on managing client expectations, both on the asset owner and asset manager side. Jennifer helps connect the institutional investment community through facilitation of peer-to-peer dialogues, via events and other platforms, and has more than 17 years of experience in managing various projects in a conference editor role. Prior to Institutional Connect, she freelanced for seven years in various roles, including head of sales for an industry start up and editorial consultant for a major event production company. Jennifer has experience engaging clients in all aspects of the business; from working on social media strategy to assisting in recruiting the speaker contingent for each event. Jennifer also worked as a senior conference editor for 10 years at Benefits Canada and Canadian Investment Review, among other B2B financial services publications under the Rogers Media Inc. umbrella. For three years, Jennifer freelanced as a conference editorial expert for Transcontinental Media, after a short stint as the editor of The Highlander, a small independent newspaper in Haliburton County. Jennifer also served a four-year term as a municipal councillor for the Corporation of the Township of Minden Hills, where she currently lives with her two daughters. She is also the executive director of a local charity, Fuel for Warmth, which offers emergency heat assistance to residents of the County who struggle to provide for themselves. Jennifer has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ryerson University/Toronto Metropolitan University.
Abbie Oabel is a detail-oriented, high-energy, hands on professional with 4 years of experience planning corporate events. She is very passionate about the events industry along with sustainability. She has helped Institutional Connect bring sustainable event ideas to life and is committed to continue executing events that have minimal environmental impact.
Abbie graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Hospitality. Her experience in the hospitality industry has given her the tools and understanding in how to effectively handle demanding events and schedules. She is currently working towards becoming a Certified Meetings Professional (CMP).
